2. Pedagogical Content

1.1 Teaching Method

            Mrs. Dewi is teaching Mathematics subject she use variety of methods to teach thesubject such as Demonstration method, Problem-Based Learning, Contextual Learning and Lecture Method. Since the students and her can communicate clearly in one language, she do not have difficulty in using these teaching methods. In my case I need to communicate with the students in English but since not all of them are good in English I need to use gestures and speak slowly to communicate with them.​​ I also use google translate to better understand the students and vice versa.

1.2 Learning Materials and Innovation

            The learning materials that is usually use is based on the syllabus that is given and made based on the curriculum the school has. However, in some circumstances they can ask for some materials they need to use in teaching from the administration office. Teachers here can do their own interactive activities to reinforce the students learning.

1.3 Sources of Learning and Technology Used

            I have been assigned to a very conducive learning classroom in the third floor of the school's building. The classroom has a set up projector, speaker and whiteboard that the teacher use to reinforce students learning. The book is provided by the school in every subject.

1.4 Authentic Assessment

            I was able to observe multiple class on my first day of observation. These are the authentic assessment that I observe in different subjects.

            During class the students are ask to do some works to measure their learning progress. First in Mathematics class of Mrs. Dewi the students are asked to solve problems on the board and share to the class how he/she was solve the problem. In Physical Education class the students need to perform a certain routine that they learn that day in order for the teacher to assess them. In Science subject they are asked to do a poster of their own and present it to the class. On my first meeting with the students their having their English class. The teacher asked them to prepare two questions for me in English and after a few minutes the teacher ask them one by one to ask me their questions. After I answer their question the teacher called one of the students to translate what I said in Bahasa that is to prove that they understand what I say and to practice their English skill.

1.5 Others

            Today January 14, 2019 my very first day in SDN 47 I got surprise about how they implement their discipline to the students. The school have their own drill where the students act like soldier. I can see even the young ones are behaving properly. I am really amazed about how they have this strong sense of discipline in school, all the students are very respectful. I also learn that the teachers give special attention to the students attitude in class and give them separate grade from this.

            On the other hand inside the classroom, I observe that playing music in the classroom while the students are doing their activity helps lighten up the vibe of the classroom and energizes the students with the music’s beats. I also observe that the students already have their classroom management routine, at the end of the class they picked up every piece of trash around their seat and the assigned cleaners starts arranging the tables. When the students leave their seat after class they put it upside down on the table.
